Whether hauling bales of hay or the family groceries, rambling across open range or driving into town, the Chevy pick-up has been an essential part of the American scene, as reliable as a trusty dog. In the 1957 model year, Chevrolet produced a total of 359 098 trucks that ranged from the pick-up models to Suburban Carryalls and Cameo Carriers, as well as panel trucks and sedan delivery vehicles. The standard engine for all Chevy trucks was an in-line six cylinder with 235.5 cid, while a V-8 with a 265 cid was an option. For the first time that year, some 1957 Chevy trucks were offered with a 283 cubic inch, V-8 engine, with or without 3 Speed Turboglide Automatic Transmission. Although few exterior design changes had evolved for the 1957 Chevy 3100 pick-up trucks, the new model had short running boards, a new wnd weightier front grille and two small windsplits in the front hood. The factory also expanded its colour choices and offered a two-tone package - which was the rage of the 1950s - as well. Now, the 1957 Chevy 3100 Pick-up - in its original factory colour scheme of Bombay Ivory roof with a Highland Green body - is re-created in a precision-engineered model as an anniversary tribute to Chevrolet's classic model year 1957.
